After several years working directly with the real estate industry and then getting into the industry myself over the last few, I’ve learned A LOT.
Posts that worked, posts that didn’t work and what people really like to see.
If you’re new around here, it is no secret to my clients and fellow colleagues how important the content you put out there is – it NEEDS to add value.There is nothing worse when following someone and you see a pretty picture with no substance behind it.
When it comes to the real estate industry, it is NO different. In fact, it’s even more important because it is how you showcase what makes you the #1 choice for a potential client.
So why should they hire you?
Real Estate Posts for Social Media That Don’t Suck
I’ve seen my fair share of horrible real estate posts. But there are also some good ones out there. Here are some real estate posts for social media that don’t suck.
1. Home Tours
Have a new listing or one that is about to come to the market? Showcase it!
Every buyer wants to feel like they got something extra or feel special by getting a first look into a home no one else has. Take them on your stories on a fun journey and point out fun quirks or facts about the home you are touring.
If you get professional video taken, post that on your feed as a static post. Include some info (but not too much) and include a CTA.
2. Educational Posts
This is one of the EASIEST things to share. Educate your audience.
If you specialize in a specific topic (i.e. first-time homebuyers, investors, down-sizers, etc). Talk about different things they should know.
You can also share educational topics around:
- Real Estate Terms
Depending on your clients and your workspace set-up, share some behind-the-scenes (BTS). You can take them through the process of acquiring a new client and the process of putting an offer in on a home.
Or maybe you can showcase what a typical day looks like for you!
If your clients are okay with it, you can always ask them if they wouldn’t mind being recorded as well.
Have a new property up for sale? Don’t be afraid to showcase it and attract potential buyers who may or may not be already looking for a home.
If it’s the perfect property for them, great. If not, you’ve now got them hooked and can get their info to send them properties they may be interested in.

5. Sold Properties
Potential clients want to see your success rate, so don’t be afraid to showcase the properties you have recently sold.
You don’t need to share all of the info, but you CAN showcase how quickly it sold, how much over asking it sold, etc.
6. Tips for Homeowners
Chances are you probably have current homeowners following you. They may not be in the market TODAY, but what about a week from now? A year from now?
Why not provide them with value too?
Homeowner tips in regards to real estate posts for social media are a great way to provide value to those who may not even know they want to sell/buy.
You can share tips for owning a home, renovating, or pros to being a homeowner that they may not even know about.
Real estate facts are always being shared in the industry. Your audience is probably interested in them, too!
You can talk about how the market did last month, you can share demographics, etc.
8. Get Personal
Alright, real estate posts for social media don’t always need to be centered around real estate. Get personal!
Share your passion behind real estate, who you are, your experience, etc.
One of my favorite posts to share is focused on when you bought your first home and asking your audience the same.
Saving the best for last? Maybe.
Did you know that 84% of people trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation? Don’t be afraid to talk yourself up.
68% of people will form an opinion of you and your brand after reading between one and six online reviews. So why not showcase the best ones right on social media?
If you are new and don’t have reviews yet, talk to your colleagues and see if they would be willing to write a review on who you are as a person, your quality of work, etc.
Keep Social Media FUN
Even though you are running a business, let’s not forget what social media is all about – being social.
I like working around the 80:20 rule when it comes to real estate. 80% of your content should be focused on you adding value to your audience’s lives. 20% should be focused on selling. Ideally we can get the 80:20 closer to a 90:10, but we have to start somewhere.
